Like many of Gerald Genta’s famous watches, the Nautilus is a horological legend. Patek Philippe’s most well-known and desirable sports watch, it’s celebrated for some of the best examples of emblematic Genta trademarks: large, angular bezel, comparatively thin case, integrated bracelet and bold, if straightforward, dial. The design is based on the traditional shape of portholes, up to and including the hinges often found on the sides—hence the Nautilus’ unmistakable ‘ears’. This stainless-steel annual calendar model features the signature horizontally embossed dial in the very same gradient deep-blue as the original Nautilus from 1976. It’s populated by a date window at 6 o’clock and a day and month aperture below 12 o’clock, with a subdial for a 24-hour display and moon phase. Through the sapphire caseback is displayed the self-winding calibre 240 PS IRM C LU with 22k yellow-gold rotor decorated with the Calatrava cross and cote de Geneve stripes.
